octavio vázquez-espinosa

octavio is a mexican architect and practitioner. he graduated from the school of architecture of unam universidad nacional
autónoma de méxico in 2018. during his bachelor’s studies, octavio obtained a scholarship to study for one year the master of architecture at e.t.s.a.s.s. in spain, after his return, he worked on his thesis project: ‘post-industrial recycling in colonia atlampa, mexico city’, focusing on affordable housing, use of land and public space, obtaining a merit diploma in recognition of the quality of the design and research. octavio has practiced in internationally awarded architecture studios where he has had the opportunity to lead housing, hospitality, and master plan projects from their conceptualization to their construction.

since 2018, octavio has collaborated in design competitions, from conceptual design to construction management of residential, housing, cultural, educational, hospitality and urban-scale projects. his interests centered on architecture and urban design, and their intersections with social and environmental justice are deeply rooted and motivated by his life experiences. his current personal research leans towards adaptive reuse and the borders of metropolitan cities, their potentials, and challenges.

octavio is exploring through rigorous design, debate, and research tangible responses for entangled issues related to architecture and urbanism: social justice, environmental justice, territory, policy, systems, and urban infrastructures.
